2,073 reefer truck trucks available from dealers nationwide
Reefer trucks (refrigerated trucks) are temperature-controlled vehicles for transporting perishable cargo — fresh produce, dairy, meat, frozen foods, and pharmaceuticals. Available as straight trucks for local delivery or tractor-trailers for long-haul, they maintain precise temperatures from -20°F to +65°F using diesel or electric refrigeration units.

Request the reefer unit maintenance log and pull its hour meter reading. Units with over 20,000 hours may need major overhaul soon. Run the unit through a full cool-down cycle to verify it reaches target temperature. Inspect coils, belts, and door seals. Carrier and Thermo King certified service dealers can perform a pre-purchase inspection.
Multi-temp trailers have two or three separate temperature zones, each with its own refrigeration circuit. They let a single trailer carry frozen goods (-10°F), fresh produce (34°F), and ambient products on the same run. Multi-temp trailers are common in grocery distribution and eliminate the need for multiple truck trips.
No special endorsement is required to drive a reefer truck beyond the standard Class A CDL (for tractor-trailers) or Class B CDL (for straight truck reefers over 26,001 lbs). Hauling certain hazardous materials (dry ice, some chemicals) may require an H endorsement.
